90 Second Blog Round Up

This is my first "blog round-up" - where I provide the links (with a short summary) to other "blogites" and their recent and some not so recent posts. These are posts that I've enjoyed and was blessed by, and thought they might have the same effect on your soul. This sort of blog sharing is not my concept, and I think that's why it's such a good one.  So here goes:

I wrote what I thought, and what turned out to be a pre-emptive strike on the subject of Homosexuality and Same-Sex Marriage in the Cayman Islands last May (see here). Kevin DeYoung was one of the sources used which help me think through many of the current topics surrounding homosexuality and same sex marriage. In this thoughtful and provoking blog DeYoung has five questions for that brother or sister who believes that the bible supports same-sex marriage.

Men, step onto TheFrontPorch with Thabiti Anyabwile and lets discuss domestic abuse. In this recent post Thabiti dissects the recent comments of ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, co-host of First Take (one of my favourite sports shows by the way). Smith recently served a week long suspension for comments he made on the unfortunate incident involving Baltimore Raven's running-back Ray Rice and his then fiancĂ©. See what Mr. Smith missed and see what we men can learn in the aftermath.

Okay, get your thinking caps on and your dictionaries out! I very much enjoyed this very thoughtful and concise review of Myron B. Penner's new book End of Apologetics: Christian Witness in a Postmodern Context, by Nate Claiborne. As one that is a lover of all things apologetic, I very much appreciated this review on what is not a new discussion on apologetics but an important one. I will be picking up a copy of this book; if this isn't your "meat 'n' potatoes" then this review should suffice.

“Whoever marries the spirit of this age will find himself a widower in the next.” Indeed! Albert Mohler Jr. discusses the slippery secularised slope the Church of England has found itself on, when it recently voted in favour of ordaining female bishops. As usual, Dr. Mohler offers up a very good read.

I hope you enjoy! Grace and Peace!
